SINOPSIS

El Salar de Surire está ubicado en el altiplano chileno a 4.300 metros sobre el nivel del mar, en la frontera con Bolivia. En sus alrededores vive un puñado de ancianos, los últimos sobrevivientes de la cultura aymara en el área. Como telón de fondo, la maquinaria de una faena minera deambula por el paisaje, entremezclada con flamencos, vicuñas y llamas. SURIRE es una película que desde la observación y el lenguaje cinematográfico, retrata este espacio único en el que conviven la belleza natural, el absurdo humano, y el ocaso cultural.

The Surire salt flat is located in the Chilean high plateau at 4,300 meters over the sea level, on the border with Bolivia. In its surroundings live a handful of elders, the last survivors of the Aymara culture in the area. As background, the machinery of a mine site roams the landscape, intermingled with flamingos, vicunas and llamas. SURIRE is a film that from observation and cinematic language portrays this unique space in which coexist natural beauty, human absurdity, and cultural decline.

Der Salzsee „Surire“ liegt auf der chilenischen Hochebene in 4.300 m Höhe, an der Grenze zu Bolivien. In seiner Umgebung siedeln nur noch wenige, meist sehr alte Personen. Sie gehören zu den letzten Überlebenden der indigenen Bevölkerungsgruppe der Aymara in dieser Region, in der unzählige Trucks, wie zu einer Kette aufgezogen, vorbei an Flamingos, Vikunjas und Lamas durch die Landschaft ziehen. SURIRE ist ein Film, der durch reine Beobachtung und cineastische Sprache diese einzigartige Gegend porträtiert, in der natürliche Schönheit, menschliche Absurdität und kultureller Niedergang nebeneinander verharren.
