NEWS is an observational film that using the fragmented format of a newscast program proposes a cinematic glance to the same reality depicted daily by the media. By means of a radical approach to journalistic and anti-journalistic facts, the film puts into play the ways in which collective truths are made.

WELCOME TO NEW YORK

WELCOME TO NEW YORK is a set of impressions, an inverted ethnography in which the directors show their irreverent and sarcastic vision of the “Capital of the World”. A reflection on contemporary human being, his inescapable animal nature and tragic fate. Instead of disappearing under a heavy layer of civilization, these topics seem to become more evident in the most influential city of the present world.

CLEVER MONKEY PINOCHET VERSUS LA MONEDA’S PIGS

This is a film about the September the 11th, 1973 Military Coup in Chile, from the point of view of those Chileans who were born and grew up after this traumatic historic event. Based on improvisation and collective creation work, different groups of pre-school kids, school children and university students, from different social, cultural and political origins, tell the History through mise-en-scenes that come from their own imaginary.

A MAN ASIDE

The man aside is Ricardo Liaño, a Spanish inmigrant settled in Chile who was a boxing promoter, a show business producer and creator of a number of muddy businesses. Old sponger and talker and now an octogenarian and a poor man, Liaño wanders around with the obssesion of himself still being a winner and that for the third time in his life he will be a millionaire “in dollars”.

CHI-CHI-CHI LE-LE-LE MARTIN VARGAS FROM CHILE

Documentary film about the come back of a former box champion and his impact in chilean society. Sport is only a pretext to investigate national identity. Thanks that Martín Vargas is a cross-over phenomenon, this film is a human and cultural x-ray of Chile, expressed in a plethora of characters and situations depicting our original, fascinating and also pathetic national reality.
